History Intel Turbo Boost
an intel november 2008 white paper discusses turbo boost technology new feature incorporated nehalem-based processors released in same month.
a similar feature called intel dynamic acceleration (ida) available on many core 2 based centrino platforms. feature did not receive marketing treatment given turbo boost. intel dynamic acceleration dynamically changed core frequency function of number of active cores. when operating system instructed 1 of active cores enter c3 sleep state using advanced configuration , power interface (acpi), other active core(s) dynamically accelerated higher frequency.
intel turbo boost technology monitor, gui utility, used monitor turbo boost; utility has reached end-of-life state no longer supporting intel processors released after q2 2013, , no longer available.
