for first 36 seasons, austin city limits recorded in studio 6a in communications building b on university of texas @ austin campus, on stage featuring mock skyline of austin in background, introduced in season 7 (1982). studio had seating capacity of approximately 800, due limited access fire exits audience size limited 300. in 2010, show , original studio inducted rock , roll hall of fame. plaque near entrance communications building b commemorating occasion proclaims austin city limits longest running music show in history of american television. on february 26, 2011, austin city limits held first taping in new purpose-built austin city limits live @ moody theater (acl live) , studio in downtown austin s block 21. additional seating capacity used estimated 100 concerts , 100 private events per year @ venue.
