frondizi born in paso de los libres, corrientes province; isabel (née ercoli) , giulio frondizi, italian immigrants umbria region. arturo 1 of 11 sons; brothers included: silvio, became professor of law @ university of buenos aires (uba) , assassinated in 1974 triple a, , risieri, became philosopher , rector of university of buenos aires. family relocated concepción del uruguay in 1912, , in 1923 buenos aires. frondizi enrolled in uba in 1926.


frondizi graduated uba law school honors in 1930. entered politics following coup against president hipólito yrigoyen, longtime leader of centrist ucr, , first argentine president elected via universal (male) suffrage. arrested in 1931, after jail became editor of number of ucr-leaning journals, , formally joined party following year. earned juris doctor in 1932. in july of year, among spoke in eulogy @ yrigoyen s funeral march. first case attorney representing 300 political prisoners detained in native paso de los libres support of banned ucr.


frondizi married former elena luisa maría faggionato in 1933. built summer cottage in 1935 @ then-secluded seaside resort town of pinamar. after birth in 1937 of daughter, elena (their child), frondizis named cottage elenita.


he led argentine league rights of man, nation s first recorded human rights organization, upon founding in 1936. in december of year, narrowly escaped assassination attempt while addressing crowd.
