mukhina s celebrated work far giant monument worker , kolkhoz woman centerpiece of soviet pavilion @ 1937 international exhibition in paris. world s first welded sculpture. 24-meter-tall, 75-ton monument made of plate of stainless steel on wooden frame, plates connected innovative method of spot welding. 1 hand of each figure holds respectively hammer , sickle, 2 implements joining form hammer , sickle symbol of soviet union. in 1947 sculpture, on permanent display @ all-russia exhibition centre, became logo of russian mosfilm studio. renovated , re-installed on higher pedestal in 2009.
