in 1919, moved lillehammer, small town in gudbrand valley in southeast norway, taking 2 children her. expecting third child. intention should take rest @ lillehammer , move kristiania svarstad had new house in order. however, marriage broke down , divorce followed. in august 1919, gave birth third child, @ lillehammer. decided make lillehammer home, , within 2 years, bjerkebæk, large house of traditional norwegian timber architecture, completed, along large fenced garden views of town , villages around. here able retreat , concentrate on writing.
