mountain combat company

established on february 11, 1998 founder colonel joe haddad, assistance of french army, branch specialized in mountain warfare , directly related lebanese army command. however, included in commando regiment member company of 1999. company headquartered @ soukour al-kimam military base (mountain hawks military base). head count of trained mountains soldiers reached level of 2 combat companies in preparation full-fledged mountains combat regiment.

training , courses

the principles , basics of combat applied same; in mean suits type of land , weather condition company active. members of company follow several gradual courses purpose, follows:

fundamental course in military skiing, lasts 8 weeks, includes theoretical , application study skiing , military skiing techniques, moving , taking cover methods in snow, medical evacuation, firing in snowy , high altitude conditions, tactical training on reconnaissance , ambushes, , constructing , reinforcing combat stations in snow areas.
fundamental course in military climbing, lasts 5 weeks, includes studies on climbing techniques, climbing safety measures, rope-handling, preparing mountain passes , crossing them, techniques on crossing hard terrain mountains, , medical evacuation rock shelves.
commander of mountainous unit course, spans 2 phases during winter , summer. each phase lasts 3 weeks.
tactical course on mountain combat (in winter & summer), course considered total training includes special techniques used in mountainous areas learned @ fundamental course stage, , how apply them in tactical operations in mountains during winter , summer.

two french army teams annually train members of company on both stages (winter , summer). in addition, officers , soldiers, follow related courses in france.

emblem

the emblem of company made out of angry wolf face trumpet around it, decorated cedar. each symbol has specific meaning:

the wolf: represents small independent units roam mountains in weather conditions.
the spear: symbol of special units.
the trumpet: symbolizes calling units in mountains gather.

operation nahr el-bared

during operation nahr el-bared, head of company, colonel ibrahim salloum, injured twice; however, insisted remain in battle , ended dying fatal gunshot.
