frondizi drafted progressive platform alternative (the 1945 declaration of avellaneda) ucr before february 1946 elections. elected argentine chamber of deputies in 1946. founded intransigence , renewal movement (mir) faction of ucr, , stood vice president on ricardo balbín s ucr ticket 1951 elections. lost overwhelmingly incumbent, president juan perón.


parting ways balbin, frondizi formed intransigent wing of ucr. ucri separated more conservative , anti-peronist ricardo balbín @ ucr s 1956 convention. @ time, peronists included left-wing element.


peron s government overturned military coup d état in september 1955, , went exile in paraguay. before next election, frondizi s closest collaborator, businessman rogelio frigerio, obtained exiled perón s endorsement. support proscripted justicialist party voters, ucri won february 1958 elections. (outgoing president pedro aramburu banned peronist party.)
