the liberal party of chile inspired tradition of chilean liberals before rise of pinochet , chilean neoliberalism. supported federal state, hated tyranny , concentration of power , wanted secular state promote social rights such public education. liberal party of chile inspired these ideas in, example, support free education all. among figures of liberal party of 20th century ramón freire, josé miguel infante, francisco bilbao, pedro león gallo goyenechea, domingo santa maría , josé manuel balmaceda.

birth of liberal party of chile

the liberal party of chile originated in chilefirst (chileprimero) movement. chilefirst political movement created in 2007 former members of party democracy (partido por la democracia) led senator fernando flores labra , supporting candidature of sebastián piñera in presidential election of 2009 , 2010.

after break original founders, on 26 january 2013 party officially formed liberal party of chile (partido liberal de chile), name change existing chileprimero. majority of founders young, part of middle class , not members of other parties. inspired ideals of chilean liberalism 19th century , values of secularism, democratic reforms , freedom of initiative.

on 15 june 2013 party announced formation of electoral alliance progressive party (partido progresista – pro) , decided support marco enriquez ominame president in election of 2013. pact called if want chile changes (si tuquires chile cambia) , included liberal party of chile deputies, senators , regional councilors supporting it. in parliamentary elections of 2013 party s president vlado milosevic elected deputy of 1. district, region of arica , parinacota.
