vanderbilt jumped out 17–0 lead on rain-soaked field. curry pass captain cohen opened scoring. josh cody took on himself point. in 1 of greatest exhibitions of punt covering, cody smothered receiver every time, recovering 2 fumbles, 1 across goal line touchdown. then, in last ten seconds of play, cody drop kicked three-pointer 33-yard line. tom zerfoss , friel punted well. curry s leadership superb, , late in game vanderbilt line rose 1 throw 3 auburn charges on five-yard line. starting lineup hayes (left end), cody (left tackle), williams (left guard), reyer (center), hamilton (right guard), lipscomb (right tackle), cohen (right end), curry (quarterback), floyd (left halfback), zerfoss (right halfback), , wiggs (fullback).

the final game of season 8–1 commodores on thanksgiving day in nashville against rival sewanee. siaa championship @ stake. shutout on men mountain complete siaa schedule of being unscored upon. thoroughly outplayed first 2 quarters captain bob dobbins , hek clark led tiger attack, intermission found commodores behind 3–0, result of red herring s field goal 20-yard line.
josh cody selected third-team all-american.
dan mcgugin took team on engineering hall little talk. commodores came playing hard, @ start of fourth quarter score still 3–0. sustained drive got underway ended dough ray plunging in touchdown four-yard line. tom lipscomb , cody blocked punt , pud reyer recovered on five-yard line. again ray scored. later zerfoss skirted end 26 yards, , curry followed 34-yard dash , third touchdown.
