the world congress
oistat composed of members in regions worldwide, known oistat centres, associate members , individual members. definition in statutes, “the directing body of oistat congress, formed when delegates of oistat centres, associate members , individual members assembled in plenary session.” every 4 years, delegates of world congress elect president , members of executive committee. decide on changes in statutes , other important issues of organization.

oistat affairs coordinated governing board , executive committee. executive committee consists of 8 elected members including president, elected @ congress. governing board consists of elected chairs of 6 commissions.
headquarters
headquarters, secretariat , changed hq in 2011, constant office of organization in charge of daily communications , serve center network members , commissions. headquarters has migrated since founding: 1968-1993 in prague, czech republic 1993-2005 in netherlands , since 2006 in taipei, taiwan.
commissions
six commissions lead various projects in field of studies: architecture, education, performance design, research, technology, , publication , communication. :
architecture
architecture commission composed of architects, theatre designers , technicians. commission initiated quadrennial project, theatre architecture competition (tac) in 1978 , finalist designs exhibited @ prague quadrennial.
education
the commission main facilitator of oistat scenofest , international stage design students works exchange (isdswe) in beijing, china.
research
research commission focuses on theoretical , historical aspects of theatre scenography, architecture, , technologies. theatre timeline sub-commission recent establishment commission focusing on archiving theatre technologies, recording , preservation.
performance design
performance design includes 4 sub-commissions: costume design, lighting design, sound design , space design.
publication , communication
the commission s recent projects include core strategy, world scenography, digital theatre words , bibliography of theatre arts.
technology
oistat technology facilitates idea exchanges in field of theatre technology, develops research projects, , examines standards , safety issues. commission offers technical advice , support theatre technicians worldwide. theatre invention prize (tip) competition initiated since 2011 commission.
