emanuelson member of dutch squad playing @ fifa u-20 world cup in 2005, held in netherlands. dutch eliminated in quarter-final against nigeria. member of dutch squad won uefa u-21 championship in 2006 , named in uefa team of tournament left back. last major tournament played 2008 summer olympics team eliminated in quarter-finals eventual winners argentina.


on 16 august 2006, emanuelson made debut netherlands senior team in friendly match against republic of ireland. despite playing netherlands during qualifiers uefa euro 2008, not selected in final squad participate in tournament itself.
