in 1997, school threatened closure, stated columbus school board building operating far below capacity approximately 550 students. provoked large public outcry, , later discovered capacity of 900 students assumed overstated. revised downward approximately 750 pupils, in recent years school has had approximately 850 students attending due reputation.
