in 1969 randolph–macon defeated university of bridgeport (connecticut) 47–28 in inaugural knute rockne bowl laying claim shared college division ii national championship wittenberg university (springfield, ohio) had defeated william jewell college in first amos alonzo stagg bowl. 4 teams had been chosen ncaa compete in first ever playoffs established division ii schools. no complete playoff set until 1973. 1969 football team inducted college s hall of fame in 2004. 1968 team perfect 9-0 record remains undefeated , untied football team in school history. yellow jacket football team coached pedro arruza , won odac championship in 2008 , 2016. of nov 2013 football team had posted record 7 seasons winning record under coach arruza. football team plays home games @ day field.



basketball

randolph-macon s basketball teams have had numerous successful seasons. women s basketball team played in ncaa division iii national championship game in 2004–05 season, losing millikin university , finishing second in nation. men s basketball team has been ranked #1 in country d3hoops.com, in 2011, , earned trip final 4 of ncaa division iii tournament in 2010.


volleyball

r-mc won fifth overall odac title , made sixth ncaa appearance in 2016. in 2015 team made appearance in elite 8.


baseball

the school s baseball team have won odac championship in 2008, 2011, 2013 , 2016. in 16 season, r-mc reached mideast regional title game.
