description
this c-type asteroid orbits sun @ distance of 2.8–3.5 au once every 5 years , 7 months (2,045 days). orbit has eccentricity of 0.10 , inclination of 10° respect ecliptic. volodia s observation arc begins official discovery @ johannesburg, no precoveries taken, , no prior identifications made.
rotation period
in april 2008, fragmentary light-curve of volodia obtained photometric observations astronomer eric barbotin. light-curve analysis gave tentative rotation period of 8 hours change in brightness of 0.15 magnitude (u=1+).
diameter , albedo
according survey carried out nasa s wide-field infrared survey explorer subsequent neowise mission, volodia measures between 21.76 , 23.27 kilometers in diameter, , surface has albedo between 0.074 , 0.090. collaborative asteroid lightcurve link assumes albedo of 0.058 , calculates diameter of 24.09 kilometers based on absolute magnitude of 11.8.
naming
this minor planet named russian vladimir vesselovsky (b. 1936), born on night of asteroid s discovery. volodia diminutive of vladimir . in 1955, naming citation first published paul herget in names of minor planets (h 125).
