the ecological , social impacts have been examined in great details , remedial actions have been planned identified impacts. major impacts submergence of land (both agricultural , forest areas), displacement of people coming under submergence, submergence of bridge on yaguilga river, submergence of church of san josé de belén, submergence of cocoa orchards of río loro, 78 archaeological sites between 2 archaeological regions, effect on fisheries, terrestrial fauna due submergence , submergence of infrastructure works.
mitigation measures
the project require evicting 467 families , flooding 8,250 hectares (20,400 acres) of prime land in region. developer has ensure project affected people have same or better quality of life in new areas resettled public services, health coverage , education, restoration of economic activity , level income equal or greater current conditions . irrigation facilities shall provided resettled families 5200 ha facilities organic production measure conversion of soil , natural animal management; reforestation in new land area acquired developer shall cover 11079.6 ha compensate loss of 3034ha due submergence, shall ensure restoration of tropical dry forest 5 years; shift church of san josé de belén , rebuild @ new location; removal vegetation in submergence area before reservoir filling prevent decomposition of vegetation , growth of aquatic macrophytes; create information base on archaeological sites coming under submergence due research; repopulate migratory species of fish in upstream areas of river , establish 2 limnigraph stations; create suitable dumping areas dispose excavated material not used on project; establish alternate roads, bridges, water supply works , other infrastructure facilities submerged; , rehabilitate of fauna coming under submergence areas measures such chasing, capturing , relocation of fauna (small, medium , large mammals, serpents , birds) , establish 2 veterinary units treat wounded animals.
