peele intended film end chris being arrested police murder of armitages, reflecting realities of racism, , rod meeting him in jail. rod asks chris information regarding armitage family investigation, chris insists fine. time production had begun, several high-profile police shootings of black people had, in peele s words, made situation surrounding racism more woke , , decided film needed happy ending.


peele considered several other endings, of included on dvd , blu-ray release. in 1 ending, rod breaks estate , finds chris, tells him: assure you, don t know re talking about.
