thiago agreed , started taking classes @ santa barbara city college, played soccer 2 years 1997 1998 under head coach tim vom steeg. vom steeg moved nearby university of california, santa barbara take head coaching position loyal martins transferring well.


in 1999, first season uc santa barbara gauchos men s soccer team, played in 11 games due broken metatarsal, still managed score 6 goals. in second season ucsb, scored 6 goals , assisted on 2 others point total of 14. appeared in 18 matches , named all-big west conference first team.
