it hosts number of lodger units, including aerospace engineering testing establishment, 4 construction engineering squadron, 1 military police squadron, real property operations detachment cold lake, , 22 health services centre.


in addition use training base, cfb cold lake s fighter/interceptor aircraft defend western half of canadian air space , aircraft cfb bagotville cover canada s arctic territory. operationally controlled norad cfb north bay , cheyenne mountain operations centre in colorado springs. cold lake aircraft forward deploy airfields throughout western , arctic canada operational requirements dictate.


cold lake hosts nato flight training operating 15 wing moose jaw, 5 wing goose bay. maple flag major international air weapons training competition hosted annually cfb cold lake in may–june, making use of clawr. name derived usaf s famous red flag training exercises @ nellis air force range in nevada. nasa , esa astronauts use cold lake winter survival training.


cadet training centre

cold lake cadet training centre (clctc) located @ 4 wing cold lake, held annually june through august. primary goal @ clctc provision of safe , challenging national summer training program. senior leaders course (slc) moved cfb cold lake in 1973. 1973 1987, slc course offered @ cold lake until survival school (which hosts 2 courses: survival instructor , introduction survival) relocated there in 1988. @ time 2 schools existed separately 2 separate commanding officers. 1989, 2 united under 1 commanding officer , became cold lake cadet camp (clcc). in 1993, camp added third school, cadet service band, ran 1 year both band , slc has become solely band program. these 3 schools make clctc. entire cold lake cadet training centre has staff of approximately 205 staff cadets, officers, civilian instructors, regular force, , civilian contract personnel, elements of cadet program , regions of canada. summer 2010 introduced entirely new school clctc: fitness school implemented first basic fitness , sports course clctc. basic fitness , sports three-week course encourages physical fitness , teaches cadets fitness , sports advisors in home squadrons/units/corps. after summer of 2010, single, national, senior leaders course discontinued in favour of leadership , ceremonial instructors course offered in each region. summer of 2011 introduced new 6 week seniors course fitness school; fitness , sports instructor course (fsic). new fsic teaches cadets fitness , sports instructors within home squadrons/units/corps.
