in nhk

upon graduation university, started work @ nhk science & technology research laboratories, japan broadcasting company. half year later, sent nhk columbia university study transistor technology, and, upon return japan, made contribution application of transistors in broadcasting.


from 1961, worked in team in nhk automate program preparation , broadcasting. team implemented total online program , information control system (topics), using ibm system/360 , ibm 1800 computers. topics developed in close relationship ibm s federal systems division.


in ibm

during nhk s topics project, nobuo mii impressed bob evans, had led ibm system/360 project success , head of federal systems division @ time, , invited work ibm. hired ibm japan, ltd., in 1969, sent ibm in u.s. , worked on apollo project.


in 1971, ibm created ibm japan development laboratory, nobuo mii became technical operations director, working in research triangle park, north carolina, , lead project develop ibm 3767 printer terminal, using new systems network architecture communications protocol.


in 1973, became director of renamed ibm fujisawa development laboratory , lead various projects japanese , worldwide markets, included: ibm japanese language processing system, gemstone low cost communications terminal series (ibm 3101 ascii, 3104, 3178/3179 display terminals), etc. involved in development of ibm 5550 , ibm jx, led laboratory develop ibm thinkpad.


in 1990, nobuo mii named ibm corporate vice president. later named director in entry systems division , power personal division. kaleida board member december 1991.


in 1993, became president of power personal systems company, objective develop, manufacture , promote powerpc microprocessor. retired ibm in 1995.


in investment fund

after retirement ibm, became head of sega s software company in u.s. in 1997 created ignite group in silicon valley, , set ignite japan in 2000, becoming chairman.
