6. mordred (pg.90)


mordred unaware long time father arthur. came mother morgause , lived in camelot, became 1 of arthur s knights. during 1 travel, mordred , lancelot met old man prophesied mordred kill own father, arthur, destroy knights of round table, , kill old man well, father, arthur, kill him. how mordred found out arthur father. mordred grew angry drew sword , killed old man instantly. lancelot felt killing mordred cruelty, chose not to.


mordred found out affair between lancelot , guinevere, , thus, followed lancelot , guinevere , found place sleeping. in consequence, mordred brought many knights there act witnesses of affair. lancelot fought way out , left camelot, guinevere taken , arrested. arthur law-bound punish wife , law demanded burned @ stake.


the next day, many knights had left camelot, had loved guinevere, , execution sentence seemed unjust round table broken. many knights abandoned brotherhood. 2 knights ordered tie stake , burn refused wear armor it. did not agree sentence either, , refused obey knights. fires lit, band of rebel knights, led lancelot, burst camelot, killed men had been ordered execute guinevere, , took guinevere away safety.


7. gawain (pg.118)


the brother of 2 knights slain lancelot gawain. had been knight king arthur years , 1 of arthur s trusted allies. gawain s anger lancelot deep , insatiable. nothing end anger except death of lancelot. arthur, controlled many fewer knights before, not risk losing greatest ally, so, arthur , remaining troops camped around stronghold lancelot lived in france. guinevere had long since been returned camelot after lancelot vowed no affair had ever taken place. guinevere safe because of lancelot s lie, gawain s anger still demanded lancelot die. siege lasted weeks. during siege, arthur received note said mordred had told people arthur had died in battle , mordred king. note said mordred had vowed take guinevere wife.
