she born mary lambert jones, on august 3, 1803, in boston, massachusetts, owen jones , elzabeth lambert. family connected first english settlers of new england. third of 8 known children, siblings included: sarah dargue jones (1794–1875), wife of enoch howes snelling; catherine plummer jones (1799–1828), wife of levi younger; owen jones, jr. (1808–1846) died on voyage shanghai, china; laura williams jones (1809–1887), wife of john lee; ann marie stanwood jones (1811–1832), first wife of robert william holt; john eliot jones (1814–1814); agnes jones (1816–1890), wife of william n. hart. extended family remained in new england exception of brother-in-law robert william holt (1792–1862) settled in hawaii after anne marie s death.


she married merchant sea captain john dominis (1796–1846), of trieste, on october 9, 1821. had 3 known children: mary elizabeth dominis (1825–1838), frances ann dominis (1829–1842), , john owen dominis (1832–1891). family lived in boston , listed in directories of boston until 1831 when moved schenectady, new york john owen born. captain dominis alway home prolonged amount of times , traded in far east , oregon , california coasts. captain dominis, mary , son john owen dominis re-settled in honolulu, in kingdom of hawaii, arriving bark jones on april 23, 1837. 2 daughters left in new england education. mary elizabeth , frances ann both died in 1838 , 1842, respectively, , buried in vale cemetery of schenectady.
