justices of supreme court appointed royal decree, chosen list of three, advised house of representatives on advice of court itself. justices are, every other judge in netherlands, appointed life, until retire @ own or after reaching age of 70. upon reaching age of 60, justice may change status extraordinary, effect justice no longer plays full role @ court.


the supreme court divided 4 chambers: first or civil chamber, second or criminal chamber, third or tax chamber , fourth or ombudsman chamber. members of fourth division chosen ad hoc, include president of court.
