the army reserve (regular) of british army consists of regular reserves serving under fixed-term reserve contract , far largest of armed forces regular reserves. of 2014 numbered 30,030 personnel , divided 2 categories. category mandatory, ex-regulars automatically falling category upon leaving regular service. category d voluntary, ex-regulars no longer required serve in category a, wish continue, lasts until age of 55. ex-regulars in both categories serve under fixed-term reserve contract.
