post-ambassadorial career

since retirement foreign service of pakistan, ambassador javid husain has continued remain engaged diplomacy, both special envoy/representative pakistan in various forums, in role of president of lahore council world affairs.


he has been engaged in academic , scholarly activities. regular columnist , contributor national dailies/journals, , gives lectures @ prestigious institutions.


in addition, has been engaged in social welfare activities in pakistan, focus on provision of accessible health-care , education.


special envoy

at end of january 2005, ambassador javid husain attended african union summit @ abuja, nigeria special envoy of president of pakistan convey african leaders pakistan s point of view on reform , expansion of un security council.


in february 2009, @ invitation of oic secretary general, attended consultative meeting @ jeddah on establishment of oic independent permanent commission on human rights.


asean regional forum – experts , eminent persons

from 2006 2008, ambassador javid husain represented pakistan in asean regional forum s experts , eminent persons (arf eep s) group. attended following meetings of arf eeps representative of pakistan:



1st meeting of arf eeps – jeju island, south korea – 29–30 june 2006;
2nd meeting of arf eeps – manila, philippines – 5–6 february 2007;
3rd meeting of arf eeps – beijing, china – 13–15 november 2008.

academic , scholarly activities

ambassador javid husain has been writing articles reputable journals , pakistani dailies dawn , nation. writes fortnightly column daily nation.


he delivers lectures @ prestigious universities (like university of punjab, , lahore university of management sciences), think tanks (like institute of strategic studies islamabad, center south asian studies @ university of punjab , world affairs council of houston), , training institutions (like pakistan national management college) on foreign policy issues.


in addition, appears on tv news & current affairs shows expert discuss foreign policy , economic issues.


lahore council world affairs

ambassador javid husain elected president of lahore council world affairs in may 2012.


under supervision, council has organised number of panel discussions on such subjects post-2014 afghanistan, liberalisation of pakistan-india trade, etc... has organised council s meetings visiting scholars abroad.


under direction, council signed memorandum of understanding (mou) university of punjab in april 2013 on mutual collaboration in organisation of seminars , workshops on foreign policy issues.


mumtaz husain benevolent trust

since june 2007, ambassador javid husain has been chairman of mumtaz husain benevolent trust (mhbt), engaged in social welfare activities in pakistan.


under supervision trust has been running free dispensary in jhang, in southern punjab, since 2008; , has been providing scholarships needy students in chenab college, jhang since 2011.


he directed flood-relief efforts mhbt undertook in jhang district in august 2010.
