what take individuals persist moment moment – or in other words, same individual exist @ different moments?



personal identity unique identity of persons through time. say, necessary , sufficient conditions under person @ 1 time , person @ time can said same person, persisting through time. in modern philosophy of mind, concept of personal identity referred diachronic problem of personal identity. synchronic problem grounded in question of features or traits characterize given person @ 1 time.


identity issue both continental philosophy , analytic philosophy. key question in continental philosophy in sense can maintain modern conception of identity, while realizing many of our prior assumptions world incorrect.


proposed solutions problem of personal identity include continuity of physical body, continuity of immaterial mind or soul, continuity of consciousness or memory, bundle theory of self, continuity of personality after death of physical body, , proposals there no persons or selves persist on time @ all.
