eligibility
according article 84 of constitution of india, sets principle qualification member of parliament, , article 75 of constitution of india, sets qualifications minister in union council of minister, , argument position of prime minister has been described first among equals , prime minister must:
be citizen of india.
be member of lok sabha or rajya sabha. if person chosen prime minister neither member of lok sabha nor rajya sabha @ time of selection, must become member of either of houses within 6 months.
be above 25 years of age if member of lok sabha or above 30 years of age if member of rajya sabha.
not hold office of profit under government of india or government of state or under local or other authority subject control of of said governments.
if candidate elected prime minister must vacate post private or government company , may take post on completion of term.
oath
the prime minister required make , subscribe in presence of president of india before entering office, oath of office , secrecy, per third schedule of constitution of india.
oath of office:
i, <name>, swear in name of god/solemnly affirm bear true faith , allegiance constitution of india law established, uphold sovereignty , integrity of india, faithfully , conscientiously discharge duties prime minister union , right manner of people in accordance constitution , law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will.
oath of secrecy:
i, <name>, swear in name of god/solemnly affirm not directly or indirectly communicate or reveal person or persons matter shall brought under consideration or shall become known me prime minister union except may required due discharge of duties such minister.
removal
upon ceasing possess requisite qualifications member of parliament subject representation of people act, 1951.
