during first few years of si s founding, avant-garde artistic groups began collaborating si , joining organization. gruppe spur, german artistic collective, collaborated situationist international on projects beginning in 1959, continuing until group officially joined si in 1961. role of artists in si of great significance, particularly asger jorn, constant nieuwenhuys , pinot gallizio.
